Sun City Roller Girls (SCRG) was founded in June 2008 and is a women-owned and operated roller derby league in El Paso, Texas. Our intention has been to bring roller derby to El Paso and to provide a new and exciting form of entertainment while also serving as a charitable organization in the community. Today’s roller derby has been an alternative sport for women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. The league is comprised of strong, intelligent women who share a goal of emotional growth and physical strength through the sport.
One of SCRG’s goals has been to one day bring traditional Banked Track roller derby to the Sun City. After a successful 2014 season we were able to make our roller derby dream finally come true. SCRG is one of only 23 leagues nationwide who will begin the 2015 season on a Banked Track. Throughout the years, SCRG has grown in numbers and popularity, and we can’t wait to introduce Banked Track roller derby to our beloved “Sun City”!
Sun City Roller Girls (SCRG) is a non-profit athletic association, which is skater-owned and operated. We are a female roller derby league based in El Paso, Texas. Rule set is Roller Derby Coalition of Leagues “Banked Track Roller Derby Rules V2.5”. Our primary focus is to help our athletes build self-confidence, self-esteem, and endurance. We strive to promote unity, camaraderie, charity, and strength with ourselves and our community.
